In Dubai, whose private schools now educate more than 380,000 pupils, the most sought-after campuses routinely run waiting lists at popular entry points, with the tightest pressure at the start of primary and at secondary transfer. Singapore’s leading schools report similar queues stretching a year or more.

The squeeze is pushing families to apply far earlier — commonly six to eighteen months ahead of the intended start date. Advisers also caution that the headline tuition figure understates the real first-year cost once registration, deposits, capital levies, technology charges and transport are added.

A capacity race

Operators are responding by opening new campuses in the highest-demand cities, but supply is lagging demand at the top of the market. For many internationally mobile families the binding constraint is no longer affordability alone — it is admissions.
